What you can print

Each theme includes the same printables, built for beginners who need pinyin and English beside the characters:

• Picture flashcards — character, pinyin, English and a picture on one card.
• Tracing — 田字格 grids with a light-grey model character and pinyin above.
• Matching — match character to picture, or character to pinyin.
• Word search — character grid with an answer key.

Every word also has its own page with Chinese, pinyin, English, Spanish and French: 525 个单词.

Where to start

Start with concrete nouns and characters with few strokes: numbers, colours, family, animals and food. Add verbs once the nouns are secure. The 52 个主题 list all ten words with pictures and printable packs.

Pinyin and characters together

Pinyin is printed above every character, so a parent or teacher who does not read Chinese can still run the activity. The tracing grids use the same stroke order as the printable posters.

Printing tips

All sheets are A4 portrait. On Letter paper choose “Fit to page”. The printables print only the worksheet — no header, navigation or ads.
