How to use this list

  1. Pick five. Show the word, say it, use it in a sentence (“I can jump”).
  2. Trace it. Type the five words into the tracing maker and print one sheet.
  3. Find it. Type the same five into the word search maker for a second exposure.
  4. Review next week. A word is known only if it is read instantly a week later.

Questions

How many Pre-K sight words are there?

40 words. The full Dolch list has 220 words across five levels.

Should we sound them out?

No — sight words are recognised as whole words. A few are decodable, but the goal is instant reading.

What if the child already knows some?

Skip the known ones and keep them for weekly review. Five unknown words at a time is enough.

Are these free to print?

Yes, for classroom and personal use.
