Chinese–English worksheets with pinyin
Simplified characters, pinyin with tone marks and 田字格 practice grids — built for heritage families and Chinese immersion classrooms.
By grade:
A translated word list is not enough for Chinese. Children need the character, the pinyin and the tone, and they need to practise the character in a grid that teaches proportion. Every Chinese entry on LingoSheets carries all three, and the tracing maker prints 田字格 cells with a light-grey model character.
The vocabulary is chosen for early-years and heritage classrooms: animals, family, food, colours, numbers, body parts and daily routine. Words are simplified characters, which is what most mainland and Singaporean curricula use.
Teaching notes
- Print the character card with the pinyin card so tones stay visible during practice.
- Trace one character at a time in the 田字格 grid — not the whole word.
- Ask children to find the character in a word search before they write it.
- Say the tone aloud as the child writes each stroke; tone and shape reinforce each other.

Questions
Simplified or traditional characters?
Simplified characters with pinyin. A traditional variant can be added to the open word data on request.
Is the pinyin tone-marked?
Yes — every entry uses tone marks (māo, gǒu, tùzi), not numbers.
Can I print a Chinese word search?
Yes. The word-search maker supports Chinese characters in a character grid, with across and down placement.
