Chinese–English worksheets with pinyin
Simplified characters, pinyin with tone marks, and picture cards — built for heritage-language families and Chinese immersion classrooms.
Chinese needs a little more than a translated word list. Every LingoSheets Chinese word comes with its pinyin and tone mark, and the tracing maker adds 田字格 grids so character practice starts from the right proportions.
Teaching notes
- Print the character + pinyin card together so tones stay visible.
- Use the 田字格 tracing sheet for one character at a time, not the whole word.
- Ask children to find the character in a word search before writing it.

Frequently asked
Do I need to speak both languages?
No. The cards are designed so a monolingual teacher or parent can run the activity: the picture carries the meaning, and both words are printed.
Is the Chinese vocabulary reviewed?
Word lists are curated by our team and checked for common classroom usage. If you spot a regional variant you would like added, email us — we update the open data set monthly.
Can I use these with older students?
Yes. The same themes work for newcomers in secondary school; increase the grid size and use the word–word matching sheet for a quick diagnostic.
